Giving Timber a second life

Terms & Conditions

A legal disclaimer

1. Material Authenticity & Safety

Second Life Timber uses reclaimed, heat-treated (HT) wood. While every effort is made to clean, sand, and treat the timber, reclaimed wood may contain historical marks and structural character. I ensure all furniture is structurally sound at the time of sale, but the "life" of the wood is part of the product.

2. Product Use & Maintenance

My furniture is designed for standard residential use. Second Life Timber cannot be held liable for any damage or injury resulting from:

  • Misuse (e.g., standing on furniture or overloading shelves).

  • Unsuitable storage (e.g., keeping indoor furniture in damp or unheated environments).

  • Natural "movement" of the wood due to central heating or extreme weather changes.

3. Outdoor Furniture

For garden pieces, I use weather-resistant finishes. However, timber is a natural product. To prolong the life of your piece, I recommend regular maintenance (re-oiling or covering during extreme winter months). Second Life Timber is not responsible for the natural silvering or weathering of wood left outdoors.

4. Liability Limitation

In no event shall Second Life Timber be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of the use of our products. My total liability to you shall not exceed the purchase price of the item.

Terms & Conditions

1. The Contract

By placing an order with Second Life Timber, you are agreeing to the terms set out below. A contract is formed once I have confirmed your order and received your deposit.

2. Custom Orders & Deposits

  • Non-Refundable Deposit: All custom projects require a 50% deposit before work begins. This deposit is non-refundable as it covers the time spent planning, sourcing, and preparing the timber.

  • Final Payment: The remaining 50% balance must be paid in full upon completion, either before or at the time of collection/delivery.

3. Handcrafted Nature & Variations

  • Reclaimed Wood: Every piece is built from salvaged, heat-treated pallets and aged timber. Natural variations—including knots, old nail holes, minor cracks, and differences in grain or colour—are expected and celebrated. These are character features, not defects.

  • Dimensions: As these are handmade pieces, all dimensions are approximate. If you have a strict space requirement, please let me know during the design phase.

4. Design Approval

Before I start building, we will agree on the design and dimensions. Any significant changes requested after the build has started may incur additional costs for time and materials.

5. Lead Times

Estimated completion dates are provided at the time of order. While I aim to meet these dates, they are estimates only. I will keep you updated on the progress of your build.

6. Collection & Delivery

  • Local Service: I currently only serve Anglesey and North Wales.

  • Liability: Once an item has been collected or delivered and signed for, Second Life Timber is no longer responsible for damage caused by misuse, poor storage, or natural wear and tear.

7. Ownership of Goods

All furniture remains the property of Second Life Timber until the final balance has been paid in f
